Gut Healthy Meal Prep: My Sunday Routine

Two kids, a job and no time. One hour on Sunday saves my whole week.

Number 7 is the one most people miss. It works best on top of the others, so don't skip ahead.

Here’s what helps me

✿
  1. 1

Cook a big pot of beans

Beans go in tacos, bowls and soups all week.

How to: Soak overnight, then simmer with onion, garlic and cumin for about 2 hours.

  2. 2

    Roast a tray of vegetables

Ready to add to any meal.

How to: Peppers, zucchini, onion and sweet potato with olive oil at 425F for 25 minutes.

  3. 3

    Grill or bake a protein

    The base of every lunch.

How to: Chicken thighs with lime, garlic and chili powder, baked at 400F for 25 minutes.

  4. 4

    Make one big salad base

Cabbage and kale last longer than lettuce.

How to: Chop cabbage, kale and carrots and keep them in a sealed container.

  5. 5

    Prep egg muffins

    Breakfast for five days.

How to: Whisk eggs with vegetables, bake in a muffin tin for 20 minutes.

  6. 6

    Portion snacks

So I grab real food when I am tired.

How to: Small containers of nuts, cut fruit and yogurt.

  7. 7

    The one most people miss

Meal prep keeps my week on track, and one little capsule every morning keeps my stomach on track.

Here’s why: lots of probiotics die in stomach acid before they ever reach the gut. Mine comes in a delayed release capsule made to get through the stomach, with 10 strains and a prebiotic to feed them.

Quick questions

How long until I feel a difference?

For me, my stomach felt calmer over the first week or two, and by a month it was just my normal. Everyone is different, so give it a full 30 days.

Is it hard to take?

No. One capsule a day, with or without food. No powder to mix and no taste. I take mine with my morning water.

Is it worth the money?

I thought it would be pricey, but it’s usually $24.97, goes on sale a lot, and it’s $17.49 right now. That’s about 58 cents a day, less than a cup of coffee.

Can I take it with the rest of my routine?

Yes, I take it alongside everything on this page. Simple is the point: one capsule, then I get on with my day. If you take medication, read the label and ask before you start.
